Kommentar/Beschreibung

The course contains small research topics of technical and applied mineralogy. Topics are connected for instance to deep geological repositories for high level nuclear waste, degradation and stability of high temperature materials for thermal energy storage. The students will perform laboratory experiments and mineralogical synthesis procedures, followed by a detailed chemical and structural analysis of reaction products applying X-ray diffraction, (scanning electron) microscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis and raman-spectroscopy.
The examination is a poster presentation/gallery walk of the reserach study in the last week of the lecture time.
