Modulzuordnungen

Kommentar/Beschreibung

This seminar will mainly focus on three aspects of Anglo-German language contact: At first, a short historical outline of English loanwords in German will be given. Secondly, the loanwords will be categorised and the phonological, morphological and semantic principles of integration will be analysed. Finally, we shall be looking at the use of Anglicisms in different walks of life, including attitudes – such as (neo-)purism – towards the influx of Anglicisms.
Possibly – depending on the second subjects of participants – we could compare the situation in Germany to that in other European countries pursuing a more rigid language policy such as France.
A bibliography and the most important texts will be available on Stud.IP by the beginning of term.
