Kommentar/Beschreibung

In the morning we will visit the environmental education centre of the German NGO BUND (https://www.bund-halle.com/franzigmark/bund-umweltzentrum/), which houses some red listed local breeds and a grazing project for restoration purposes. In the afternoon we will discover the nature conservation area "Porphyry landscape near Brachwitz" (https://www.natura2000-lsa.de/schutzgebiete/naturschutzgebiete/porphyrlandschaft-bei-brachwitz.html) with its rich variety of dry and wet habitats, which is part of the Natura 2000 site "Porphyry landscape north-west of Halle" (https://www.natura2000-lsa.de/schutzgebiete/natura2000-gebiete/porphyrkuppenlandschaft-nordwestlich-halle-.html).

The excursion will have a focus on botany, vegetation and nature conservation. Besides we would be pleased about participants who are willing to share their knowledge about the taxa they are interested in, and how they might be connected to the local plants and habitats.
Please bring identification literature for Flora (e.g. Rothmaler) and the taxa you are interested in, and a 10x (or more) magnifying glass (Lupe).

Come with good walking shoes, bring a lot of water and your food for the day, sunscreen and a hat.

We meet near the entrance of BUND Umweltzentrum at 9 am: 51.531605, 11.915291 (Franzig Mark, Morl, https://maps.app.goo.gl/WT2oqN9QLphoAAue7).
There are several ways to get there
- by public transport: Bus 35, arriving at 8.43 am at the Franzigmark (Morl) stop and departing from Bus and Tram stop Halle (Saale), Trotha at 8.33 am;
- by bicycle: easy access;
- by private car: there will be enough of parking on site, please organise carpools;
- by uni-van, only if necessary: 7 places can be made available upon request. It would start at 8.30 near the tram 8 stop Giebichenstein. Please write to noa.terracina@student.uni-halle.de to register for place in uni-van, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and the exact meeting point will be communicated in advance.
