Kommentar/Beschreibung

This module builds on the fundamentals of sedimentology and provides advanced training in the identification, characterisation and interpretation of sedimentary facies and facies associations across continental, transitional and marine depositional environments. Students investigate lateral and vertical facies relationships, compare different depositional systems, and learn to construct, apply and critically evaluate facies models for ancient and modern sedimentary systems. Teaching combines lectures, short field trips and small project-based exercises, using case studies and recent scientific literature to develop practical skills in facies analysis and interpretation.
