Comment/Description

This course explores the practice of private international law and international procedural law with a particular emphasis on the drafting of international contracts. Over fiveteen weeks, students will meet for weekly 90-minute sessions that integrate theoretical foundations with practical skills. Core themes include jurisdiction, choice of law, and recognition and enforcement of judgments, all examined through their impact on cross-border contractual relationships. Alongside doctrinal study, students will develop hands-on drafting experience, analysing contract clauses in light of private international law rules. Practical elements include case studies and mini-moot courts designed to cultivate analytical precision, advocacy skills, and an appreciation of the interaction between legal theory and professional practice. By the end of the course, students will be equipped not only with a solid grounding in the relevant legal principles, but also with the ability to apply them to the challenges of international contract drafting.
