Lernorganisation Learning objectives:
-Knowledge of the role of institutions in an economic setting including how they are embedded in an overarching governance architecture
-Understanding of institutions as essentially market-driven outcome with the aim to economize on transaction costs
-Ability to make informed choices between alternative institutional arrangements from a theoretical and practical point of view in order to create effective institutions
-Ability to analyze current problems from practice based on the knowledge acquired in the course

Sonstiges Content:
-Models and theoretical approaches from the (Neo-)Institutionalist tradition and related current approaches
-Applications of institutional methodology to current problems from practice (changing subjects, e. g. institutional bypassing, platform regulation, etc.)
-Institutions and interactive situations including negotiations, regulations, informal and formal rule-making, contract design and enforcement
-Impact of institutional characteristics on economic outcomes

Modulzuordnungen

Kommentar/Beschreibung

Participation in 1st session is mandatory in order to be enlisted for the course. Admission is only possible after signing in to the list of participants manually in the first session. We will also allocate the topic of the seminar paper in this first session and course organization will be explained
Needless to say, regular attendance is highly recommended as we will solve cases and deal with questions on a regular basis which are both important for your capability to deal with the term paper
