Comment/Description

Die Übung „Transnational Luther. Wittenberg, Reformations and Religious Legacies“ ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung zwischen Halle, Kopenhagen und Oslo und findet in englischer Sprache statt. Von jeder Institution nehmen jeweils etwa zwei Lehrende und zehn Studierende teil. Die Übung stellt eine Einführung in zentrale Themen der lutherischen Reformation sowie in die Dynamiken, die sie als internationale Bewegung vorantrieben, dar. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei den Verbindungen zwischen dem Kurfürstentum Sachsen und den nordischen Ländern. Darüber hinaus widmet sich der Kurs auch globalen Transferprozessen im Kontext der Reformation. Diese werden anhand thematischer Schwerpunkte wie religiöse Praxis, Theologie, Recht, Geschlecht und transnationale Bewegungen behandelt.
Der Kurs gliedert sich in zwei Teile:
In einem ersten Teil trifft sich die Gruppe online (17.10.2025; 24.10.2025);. Der zweite, zentrale Teil des Kurses findet in einer gemeinsamen Präsenzwoche an der Leucorea in Wittenberg statt (26.10.–1.11.2025). Vormittags stehen Vorlesungen auf dem Programm, nachmittags folgen Exkursionen zu bedeutenden historischen Orten in Wittenberg sowie Gruppenarbeiten. Im Anschluss an die Woche wird es noch ein digitales Treffen geben (7.11.2025).
Um die Gruppen möglichst ausgeglichen zu gestalten und den Studierenden des neuen Masterprogramms eine Teilnahme zu ermöglichen, erfolgt eine endgültige Zulassung zum Kurs erst zum 1.10.

The autumn school “Transnational Luther. Wittenberg, Reformations and Religious Legacies” is a joint course offered in cooperation between Halle, Copenhagen, and Oslo, and will be conducted in English. Approximately two lecturers and ten students from each institution will participate. The course provides an introduction to central themes of the Lutheran Reformation and to the dynamics that drove it as an international movement. Particular focus is placed on the connections between Electoral Saxony and the Nordic countries. In addition, the course also addresses global transfer processes in the context of the Reformation. These will be explored through thematic focal points such as religious practice, theology, law, gender, and transnational movements.
The course is divided into two parts:
The first part includes two online meetings for the whole group (17 October 2025 and 24 October 2025). The second, main part of the course consists of a joint in-person week at the Leucorea in Wittenberg (26 October – 1 November 2025). Mornings will be dedicated to lectures, while afternoons will include excursions to important historical sites in Wittenberg, as well as group work. A follow-up online session will take place on 7 November 2025.
In order to ensure balanced group composition and to enable participation of students from the new master’s program, final admission decisions will be made by 1 October. We kindly ask for your understanding.
