Comment/Description

The Spring School in palaeography and Digital Humanities is in cooperation with the Göttingen University Institute for Digital Humanities. It is an intensive training course for students from Göttingen, Halle and Oxford. In a week-long program, participating students learn about Latin palaeography and digital approaches to manuscript studies, in both theoretical and practical sessions in the Library of Vercelli, a small town close to Milan. Key areas that are covered in the spring school include palaeography and codicology, hyper- and multispectral imaging, text encoding with TEI XML, handwritten text recognition (HTR), digital editing, bookbinding, and more. The Spring School is generously funded by the DFG.

We are planning to visit libraries in Vercelli, Verona as well as Pavia.
