Kommentar/Beschreibung

This course primarily targets teacher students who want to extend their knowledge in contemporary American literature and explore ways of teaching such contents in the EFL-classroom. This seminar has at its core a three-day lecture and workshop event in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. You will be joining a group of teachers from all over Germany. We will focus on the theme of “Storytelling in the Twenty-First-Century USA.” The event will feature talks on issues of storytelling in a wide array of literary contexts. We are going to explore genres, themes, and literary trends in contemporary US literature, discuss new and old canons, examine novel approaches of teaching literature in the EFL-classroom as well as practice creative text production.

Schedule:
Block Session of 2.5 days at Leucorea in Lutherstadt-Wittenberg (Nov. 13-15, 2025)
meeting in preparation of the block session; consultation in January to discuss Prüfungsleistung

You will be staying in mixed rooms in a boarding house, Pension Central in Wittenberg: https://www.central-wittenberg.de/. Please arrange for your travel individually.

Costs: 30€; includes full program, coffee breaks, 2 nights + breakfast at Pension Central, 2x dinner

Prüfungsleistung:
Term paper dealing with one of the topics discussed during the block session.
