Comment/Description

This course introduces exemplary approaches to the study of Christianity and religion in both historical and contemporary contexts. It is taught by professors representing three distinct yet interconnected research areas, reflecting the faculty’s broad expertise in Religious Studies, Church History and Global Christianities.

Through selected case studies and current scholarly debates, students will explore diverse methodologies in these fields and develop a critical awareness of historiography as a situated and interpretive practice shaped by present-day categories, perspectives, and power relations. Students are encouraged to question dominant narratives and explore alternative and marginalized voices, thus gaining tools to understand religion and Christianity as historically dynamic and globally interconnected phenomena.
