Comment/Description

This ASQ module can be taken either as a one-semester standalone course or as the first part of a two-semester course.
UNIcert II - Part 1 is focussed on teaching students university-level speaking, listening, critical reading and writing skills based on specific B2-level skills contained in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

By the end of this course students will be able to:
☐ Read articles and reports on contemporary issues in which writers adopt or report specific stances or viewpoints, and to analyse, summarise, and mediate those positions effectively and concisely.
☐ Understand and mediate extended talks and lectures on familiar topics delivered in standard language or a familiar variety, including complex lines of argument.
☐ Plan and execute real-time information flow strategies, producing texts that are generally well-organised and coherent, and employing a range of linking expressions and cohesive devices.
☐ Express ideas and opinions clearly and precisely on subjects related to their field of interest.

ℹ️ To ensure that all students are placed in the course most appropriate for their level, we require them to take a 30-minute Language Placement Test during the first week of the semester. For more information about test dates and times, please visit the MLU Sprachenzentrum website.
