Kommentar/Beschreibung

The lecture is given by guest professor Dr. Martha Hailu (Addis Abeba University, Ethiopia).

Moving from a fossil fuel-dependent world to a renewable-led one is probably the most significant hurdle of our time. While technological innovations are key, the pace and direction of this shift depend on the complex web of international laws covering not just environment but trade, finance, and investment. This course explores how international economic legal frameworks enable and/or limit decarbonization. We will examine the specific governance mechanisms, legal instruments, and dispute resolution systems that manage the world’s energy markets. The course is delivered through a series of weekly lectures, with occasional guest lectures.
