Kommentar/Beschreibung

This course takes students through an overview of the anthropology of pollution, toxicity and chemical relations. It presents research over the years that have all probed questions about chemical toxicity and pollution, spiralling in directions that have influenced environmental justice movements, queer studies as well as labour and health reform. The course is designed around a set of key questions and challenges in the anthropological study of toxicity, pollution and chemical relations. Its purpose is not only to provide a survey of the field, but rather also introduce students to a set of questions and analytic tools and invite them to quickly move towards applying them to real-world cases.
