Comment/Description

Syntax: an Introduction
There are many ways of describing how words combine to form sentences. In this seminar, we learn about one of them – Generative Syntax. We look at concepts like constituent, category, modifier, complement, and function, learn to draw simple tree diagrams, and see how things like passive and questions can be modelled. We also show that Generative Syntax is just one approach among others, with some advantages as well as disadvantages.
