  • Ability to derive and discuss optical properties and the dielectric function

  • Electronic transport (without spin):
- diffusive transport, resonant tunnelling, negative differential resistance, coulomb blockade
- superconductivity
  • Optical properties, dielectric function
  • Basic types of devices
  • Spin transport:
- spin-polarized transport
- spin-dependent tunneling
- pure spin currents
- magnons
- Hall effect (normal, anomalous, spin-Hall), Nernst and Seebeck effects
