Prerequisites
Skills to be acquired in this module
  • Students are able to:
  • use basic scientific English. (Depending on the experience of the participants, the course is taught bilingually in German and English.)
  • understand micronutrient homeostasis and transport processes in plants
  • employ a set molecular tools to identify and characterize mutant plants
  • present research papers
  • pursue molecular and analytical laboratory work
  • present and interpret own research results
Module contents
  • Current knowledge on uptake, translocation, and membrane transport of micronutrients in plants
  • Practical analysis of micronutrient transport processes in plants by phenotypical and genotypical characterization of different mutant plants
  • Scientific presentation of papers on different transport proteins in a seminar talk
  • Identification of mutant lines for the respective transport proteins using molecular and analytical methods
