Comment/Description

Participants in conversation or observers often feel strongly that one of the participants dominates the others, or that, on other occasions, the participants are on an equal footing. In this seminar, we look at factors that contribute towards dominance and symmetry in conversation from a number of theoretical perspectives and angles. For this, we look at conversation data from radio and film communication. For the second half of the seminar, some data sessions together with advanced students of “Sprechwissenschaft” are planned.
