Das Seminar startet voraussichtlich ab Mai mit regulären Sitzungen sowie einem Blockseminar ( 3-4 Stunden) an einem Samstag gegen Ende der Vorlesungszeit.
Through critical engagements with issues and topics such as assimilation, belonging, marginalization, hybridity, cultural memory, (diasporic/transnational) identities, migration, racialization as well as trauma, this seminar will attempt to trace and examine the diverse poetics, politics, and textualities of food within selected culinary and food-centric texts by Asian American and Pacific Islander authors. Readings may include texts by Onoto Watanna/Winnifred Eaton, Maxine Hong Kingston, Amy Tan, Frank Chin, Monique Truong, Madeleine Thien, Craig Santos Perez, Chang-Rae Lee, Bich Minh Nguyen, Eddie Huang, Padma Lakshmi, and Michelle Zauner.
