Comment/Description

Die Vorlesung interpretiert geistliche Lyrik verschiedener Epochen an Beispieltexten. Im Vordergrund steht die Frage, wie sich literarische Darstellung und theologische Aussageabsicht zueinander verhalten. Diese Leitfrage triggert andere: Sollte ein Kirchenlied, um viele Leute anzusprechen, so einfach wie möglich sein oder darf es den Singenden Schwieriges zumuten? Dann einerseits: Wieviel kriegt die Gemeinde von einem erhabenen Stil mit? Und andererseits: Ist diese Frage wichtig genug, um literarische Qualität vorsichtshalber aus der Kirche zu verbannen? Welche Ungeheuerlichkeiten erlauben sich eigentlich Gesangbuchredaktionen gegenüber dem Urheberrecht – oder gilt dieses in der Kirche nicht? Warum sind erotische und militante Metaphern in modernen Gesangbuchreformen die ersten Opfer einer ‚Allgemeinverständliches‘ fordernden, gutgelaunt kichernden Liedzensur? Dürfen – ja sollten – Kirchenlieder humorvoll sein, um womöglich die Gläubigen und sogar die Ungläubigen vom Fleck weg einzufangen? Die Vorlesung beantwortet derlei Fragen nur zum Teil, sie versucht sie vor allem auf produktive Weise zu stellen. Die Sprachgestalt geistlicher Lyrik gibt theologisch viel zu denken.
