Translation is an interesting and often challenging activity which forces one to consider a variety of difficulties involved in transferring meaning from one language into another. One is often confronted with both cultural and linguistic differences between the first language and the target language which can make translating more complicated than it would appear at first glance. However, finding solutions to these problems, or in some cases realising why certain things are untranslatable can give one considerable insights into how the target language, English in this case, works.
