Für den erfolgreichen Abschluss des Aufbaumoduls Systemanalyse und Vergleichende Politikwissenschaft müssen zwei Seminare besucht werden. In jedem Seminar absolvieren Sie die Studienleistung (z.B. Referat).
In einem der beiden Seminare schreiben Sie die Hausarbeit.
The Block Seminar is designed to introduce you to postcolonial theoretical debates and concepts that challenge Eurocentric methodologies. To begin with, you will learn what postcolonialism is and why it matters in the study of politics in the Global South and beyond. Thematically, the focus will be on how colonial history continues to influence the contemporary political processes in the world and how divergent paths of nation-state and citizenship have emerged in postcolonial societies with special reference to South Asia. In addition, the rise of resistance movements against the developmental logics of postcolonial states will be in the focus of the seminar.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
–Introduction to postcolonial debates and their relevance for the study of politics.
–To deconstruct Eurocentric lens for a better understanding of world politics especially by challenging the West centric narrative of Modernity.
–Understanding how postcolonial states work.
–Following the journey of nationalism in a postcolonial context.
–Comprehending democratic forms of political action in postcolonial societies.
–Grasping the logic of resistance in postcolonial developmental nation-state by looking at social movements.
