Teilnehmende This is for those interested in learning, discussing, using the theories of Environmental Sociology. This can be Bachelor or Master students who are considering to write their thesis on related topics, but also anyone else interested in the theories and methods of environmental sociology, including university staff - research associates, members of the faculty.
Voraussetzungen The main requirement is interest in environmental social sciences and willingness to explore environmental sociology.
Lernorganisation We will use one key textbook on environmental sociology and have selected additions from other sources. Each participant is expected to lead or co-lead discussion of a topic at least one time. In case of interest, there is a possibility to participate in a social-environmental field experiment that the chair is planning in the upcoming semester. The aim of the experiment is to investigate how social norms can influence individuals' environmentally-significant behavior in a real-world context.
Leistungsnachweis This is a course without credits. The participants do not have to produce any paper or pass an exam. Those who want can prepare an expose of their thesis or research and receive feedback.

Kommentar/Beschreibung

We will discuss key topics of Environmental Sociology. This is particularly designed for students considering to do their own research (thesis or other) with a link to Environmental Sociology. Both Bachelor and Master students are welcome. Other interested students in the topics as well as university staff can also join. In case of interest, there is a possibility to participate in a social-environmental field experiment that the chair is planning in the upcoming semester. The aim of the experiment is to investigate how social norms can influence individuals' environmentally-significant behavior in a real-world context.
