Comment/Description

In this course we will read the novel "Nutshell" by the highly acclaimed contemporary British author Ian McEwan. It has been described by critics as "A masterpiece" and "Funny, shocking and compelling. The writing is so clever and beautiful." widely considered his finest work and which is quite possibly the supreme American novel. It is a tale of betrayal and murder with completely intentional and absolutely hilarious similarities to Shakespeare's tragedy "Hamlet".
We will use the novel primarily as a basis for vocabulary extension, but also for discussion of topics related to the content.
Participants are not expected to have read the novel before the course begins.
