This course explores cultural representations of the American South in film. First, you will be made acquainted with the basics of film language. Then we are going to watch and discuss film’s on the U.S. South from the early 20th century to the 21st. The aim is to define recurring themes and topoi related to the South and the way perceptions of that region changed alongside contemporary socio-political changes. Class credits will be achieved in an in-class written exam (date to be announced).
