The Advanced Course offers an overview of important theoretical orientations and thematic domains of the discipline. It conveys state-of-the-art international theoretical work and disciplinary differentiation. The three main intended learning outcomes of the course are: (1) Advanced knowledge of central theoretical positions in anthropology. (2) Competence to read and discuss sophisticated anthropological texts in English. (3) Advanced competences in scholarly argumentation and substantiated deployment of theoretical positions. This series of lectures will address various important topics and anthropological approaches, such as the history of anthropology, kinship anthropology, economic anthropology, legal anthropology, historical anthropology, conflict theory, and ritual/performance; and it will address such vexed issues as cultural reflexivity, personhood, globalization, or the nation-state in anthropological research. For this purpose, leading experts in these fields are invited to give keynote lectures. |
