Kommentar/Beschreibung

The objective of the seminar is to consider and potentially contribute to development of a sustainable, future-oriented, and socially just food strategy for Halle (Saale). The seminar was inspired by the HallInE project of the BUND, which aims to initiate and coordinate a Food Council for Halle (Saale), Saalekreis, and surrounding areas. As part of the seminar, students will conduct interviews with a diverse range of stakeholders from agriculture, gastronomy, trade, administration, and politics as well as consumers. Furthermore, we will evaluate and discuss concepts of food democracy, wherein different actors could bridge the gap between production and needs through a state-supported self-organized process. Building on this, aspects of sustainability, community self-organization, and equality are at the center of the analysis.
