Kommentar/Beschreibung

This course is designed for students who plan to write their final thesis in the fields of English Literature and/or Culture. We will consider selected theoretical approaches that help in structuring the research and writing the thesis. Students will have the opportunity to present their work-in-progress in class and will receive feedback and further suggestions.

In addition, the course is open to students who are preparing for their final examinations (“Staatsexamensklausuren”) in “Anglistik Literaturwissenschaft” (based on the course ‘The “Second World” in Contemporary British Historical Writing’) or in “Anglistik Kulturwissenschaft” (based on the lecture course ‘From Renaissance to Revolution: Society, Politics, and Culture in Early Modern England (1485 to 1688)’). Students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the primary and secondary material. There will be mock questions to prepare for the examinations, and individual and group consultations.

Finally, an additional objective will be the discussion of recent developments in the field of English literature and culture. A reader with selected material will be made available at the beginning of the teaching term. In this context, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers are given the opportunity to present their work-in-progress as well.

Please note that prior registration (deadline: 14 October 2021) for the course via StudIP is mandatory. The course will take place and will have to be attended in physical presence (under observation of the 3G rule).

Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
Die Plätze werden in der Reihenfolge der Anmeldung vergeben.
