The lecture conveys a first impression of the methods and themes of Proteomics science. Following a general introduction into the history and methodology of quantitative proteomics and mass spectrometry, which serves as an introduction for next semesters lecture, an emphasis is placed on relevant protein biochemistry techniques such as protein extraction solubilization etc. and separation techniques. There is also an emphasis on basic statistics and statistical procedures that are encounters in the life sciences (descriptive and inferential statistics, statistical testing).
