Our pronunciation does not only often influence how well we are able to communicate with other people, it also has a strong bearing on what impression we make on others, be they native speakers of the target language or not. We shall be looking at the pronunciation of English, and possible problems related to this, from both a general point of view and from one that takes into account specific difficulties that many German speakers have in speaking ‘good’ English.
