Kommentar/Beschreibung

Although the term wireless appears antiquated by today, we unwittingly use it, if only in a coinage like Wi-Fi. This course will focus on a time period when wireless broadcasting first came to the British home. We will examine the early history of the BBC, the debates concerning its purposes, and its progress towards becoming a national institution. We will also acquaint ourselves, on a basic level, with the technological basis and the look-and-feel during radio's early decades. Finally, we will examine the medium radio on a phenomenological level, focusing on its salient traits, e.g. different programme formats, and functions.
