Participants The course aims at giving students an understanding of topics in strategic management. It provides an overview over different strategic management principles, methods and tools. It will deal with the processes of strategy formulation and strategic analysis, including the external and internal environment. It also aims at developing the student’s capabilities to analyze, discuss and develop solutions regarding strategic challenges in the business setting. Finally the profession and employment opportunities of a business student will be clarified.

• Characterization of strategic management as a field in business studies
• Fundamentals of the process of strategic management and its influencing factors
• Application of principles, methods and tools to specific business cases

Didactical concept:
• Lecture: for theoretical basis, group discussions and plenum discussions
• Exercise: Case studies to gain practical insights, possibility for questions, consultant simulation for presentation and argumentation skills
