Comment/Description

- Introduction to biopolymers: proteins and peptides, nucleic acids, lipids, polysaccharides, polyhydroxyalkanoate, chitin/chitosan etc
- Biopolymer characteristics
- Biopolymers in solution
- Self-organisation of biopolymers: from monolayer to supramolecular structures
- Physico-chemical characterization: rheology, calorimetry, chromatography (e.g. SEC, AF4), scattering techniques (e.g. DLS, SANS), AUC, microscopy (e.g. EM, REM, AFM), second virial coefficient etc
- Biopolymer-spectroscopy (e.g. IR, CD, UV/VIS, fluorescence, NMR, ESR)
- Characterization techniques specific to certain biopolymer subclasses
- Physico-chemical characterization of organized biopolymers
