Pre-requisites The seminar will be conducted in English. Thus students are asked to be able to speak and write in English to actively participate, give a talk, and hand in a paper at the end of the semester.
Learning organisation Each session will open with a brief input / introduction by the lecturer. Subsequently one or more students will give a talk on a topic previously selected / assigned. Following the talk the respective issue will be discussed with the rest of the students. Topic-related movies and team discussions will be organized depending on the number of students.
Performance record Each student will be required to give a talk, which will be complemented by a position paper. Depending on the size of the seminar the talks will be delivered individually or in groups. Based on the presentation topic a research paper will have to be handed in.

Comment/Description

1. Beschreibung: Today the humankind faces one of the crucial stages in the development of its modern history. We witness the surfacing of a new international framework, establishment of the polycentric system of international relations with multipolar reality spreading to every level of cooperation. Russia is ready to work in a creative manner and strengthen constructive cooperation with those who express mutual interest on the principals of equality, mutual respect and benefit. That is why issues, which are to be covered within seminar frames, are of particular academic and applied interest, taking into account also recent events in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The seminar will cover basic issues of Russian history and will also reflect on Russian foreign policy strategies and conceptual documents. Institutional dimension of Russian foreign policy making process will be examined as well as contemporary conditions and perspectives of the Russian parliamentary diplomacy. Particular attention will be paid to regional priorities of Russian foreign policy.
This seminar (5 LP) can count against the “Advanced module International Relations and European politics” or the “Additional module International Relations and European politics”.
