Comment/Description

Course Description:
In this seminar we discuss infrastructuring as ordering practice. We clarify the concepts offered by different authors and pay particular attention to distinctions between institution (Weber), infrastructure (Hughes), dispositif / apparatus (Foucault), assemblage / agencement (Deleuze and Guattari). This debate is politically important since the most burning contemporary matters of concern – climate change, global health, global hunger, and increasing inequalities – are commonly phrased as consequences of failing or missing infrastructures and the remedies are commonly also phrased as improvements of infrastructures.
