The course gives an overview of theories about kinship in anthropology. It addresses kinship not only in its core domains of descent, marriage and reproduction, but also in its links to social structure, cooperation and social security. One focus is on new potentials generated by computer-assisted methods.
Der Kurs richtet sich primär an eine kleine Gruppe von Doktoranden in dem ‚Kinship Universals and Variation‘-Projekt des Max-Planck-Instituts. Der Kurs wird für bis maximal 7 Master-Studierende geöffnet. (Die gesamte Teilnehmerzahl würde dann 10 betragen).
Für das Folgesemester (SS 2016) ist ein Vertiefungskurs geplant, der den Schwerpunkt auf statistische Methoden und computer-gestützte Analysen ausbauen wird und von Dr. Patrick Heady geleitet wird..
