  Kommentar/Beschreibung:
This course will offer an introduction to modern European politics. It will do so on a comparative rather than a country-by-country approach. The focus will be on the politics of representation, on governing institutions, parties, and electoral systems.
  Voraussetzungen:
Eligibility: The course is primarily intended for BA students to satisfy the requirement to complete a seminar offered in a foreign language.
  Lernorganisation:
The course is organized around the following textbook: Michael Gallagher/Michael Laver/Peter Mair: Representative Government in Moderne Europe. Institutions, Parties, and Governments, 4th ed., Boston: McGraw Hill, 2006. We will study this seminal textbook chapter by chapter.
  Leistungsnachweis:
Student requirements include: studying the textbook in advance of the scheduled blockseminar, regular attendance, summary and oral presentation of a book chapter, and completion of a semester paper.
