Comment/Description

The interactive lecture provides an in-depth and hands-on overview of the theory, methodology and application of economic valuation of environmental public goods (ecosystem services and biodiversity). It will introduce relevant value concepts and valuation methods. Students will be assessed based on project work (no written exam) related to different phases of the design, implementation and analysis of an economic valuation study.

Students will learn to:
* critically assess different value concepts that are relevant for economic valuation of the environment, including relevant perspectives from environmental ethics
* independently and case-specifically choose suitable valuation methods
* plan, design and conduct economic valuation studies (stated preferences)
* conduct econometric analyses and interpret the results of valuation studies (stated preferences)
