The course makes use of case examples from practice throughout and encourages students to explore the implications for practice in their own presentations as well as to base their arguments on current literature
Leistungsnachweis Short presentation in class + test at the end of the semester (MC questions)
The final grade will be calculated based on 1) your presentation 2) MC test

Aims
- Awareness of fundamental tasks of Human Resource Managers in a fluid work environment (e. g., skill-upgrading, flexicurity, Industry 4.0)
- Ability to analyze HR processes as inherent to almost every Management function (especially as regards leadership)
- Ability to analyze HR processes as inherent to many fields of Economics
- Ability to critically assess the role and impact of the „human factor“ in management and economic problems (including, but not restricted to the labour market, HRM during crises, wage setting and minimum wage, human capital in economic applications)
- Ability to select and apply suitable tools and concepts from various HR fields based on applicable theories and models (e. g., Selection tools, performance appraisals, International HRM, Small firm HRM, performance impact of HRM)
- Analyze and solve Applied HRM cases from Management and Economics (focus on application)
- Understand how core functions like training and leadership relate to measurable deliverables of HRM
- Analyze how HRM processes and deliverables enter accounting and reporting systems (including Human Capital Accounting)
- Understand how level, form and structure of compensation systems relate to various types of equity and how they impact overall job and financial performance
