In this course we will read and analyze modernist American poems. Students will be familiarized with the historical contexts – the social, historical and cultural forces at the beginning of the 20th century – which led to radical changes in how art was produced and experienced. We will then read, analyze, and interpret a number of these texts in particular in light of their formal and aesthetic complexity.
