With the successful completion of this seminar, the oral exam can be taken in March 2012.
Literature is an integral part of everyone’s life and can have various forms: newspaper articles, novels, plays, comics, etc. Literature is also an indispensable part of any curriculum or Kernlehrplan for teaching foreign language since any literary work provides direct contact with authentic use of the English language in an otherwise artificial classroom communication situation.
This course aims at dealing with the essential parts of literary didactics. Special focus will be given to novels, short stories, poetry, and plays since they constitute the main body of texts in a classroom. Nevertheless, graphic novels and modern media will also be included. All of the domains of literary didactics shall be presented in this course and exemplified for every age-group (Sek I and II) with specific literary works in mini lessons. Additionally, planning entire sequences is part of this course.
