This seminar is designed to explore the present and evolving tendencies related to equality and non-discrimination under international and European law. It will focus first on the basic concepts associated with equality and non-discrimination, and then proceed to the respective legal regimes generally and in specific contexts.
Students are expected to read and critically evaluate the readings assigned. Classroom discussion is an essential component of the course experience. It should help students analyze, in an academic fashion more penetrating than the typical classroom experience, a subject matter of relatively narrow focus.
Further course materials and mandatory reading assignments will be added to the course intranet.
Students will be evaluated both on a written and oral basis. No previous knowledge of international or European law is required.
